Research of websites

This website of Soul/RnB singer Mary J Blige. As you can see the first box shows what is shown when you enter the website is one of her latest music videos, this in effects gives it a nice opening effect as you are instantly drawn to the video and is different from other websites. The colour scheme is generally black and bright orange and yellows, this is because the background is a sunset giving a very 'natural'/calming look connoting Soul music. Visual design features on the second page include a posed picture of the artist on the side wearing a black dress with fur connoting 'sexiness' and 'sophistication'. Other features include the artists name above the picture so the audience can relate to it, advertisement of her latest album, and a news feed with pictures about her latest activity. All these features are important as they have up to date information of the artist. Mary J Blige's biography briefly explains her 'life' and music career. The third box shows the 'video' page and is set out almost identical to the site 'YouTube' as it has scrolls of other videos on the side.
Whats different about this website: The opening of the website being with the latest music video instantly playing when you enter the website.
This website is about British Soul/jazz singer  Rebecca Ferguson. The general colour scheme for the website is black, white and red keeping it quite simple at the same. The first box shows the home page which contains quite a few design features. I am guessing the audiences attention would instantly go to the top of the page showing the artist looking quite 'peaceful' her self almost as if she is thinking about something. The 'focus' camera effect makes the artist look like the most important contrasting from the background. As you scroll down you can also see her latest music video as well as a miniature gallery and news about the artist from twitter and in general.
Whats different about this website: This website doesn't follow one convention of normal music videos that I have seen. This is the fact that the navigation bar is on the bottom of the webpage, this is probably because no attention is gone from the picture and because most of the information is presented on the home page itself.

This website is for Soul/RnB singer Emeli Sande. The colour scheme are dark 'calm' colours that you could associate with Soul/RnB as from our conventions questionnaires we found out that people wanted dark colours. The first box shows a opening to of the website promoting how you can 'sign up' to the website. As well as promoting the album. The textured background gives a 'homely' effect connoting how 'down to earth' her music might be. The second  box shows a music video of Emeli Sande while the third box shows news update on the star quite simply without many other advertising features. The navigation bar is again at the bottom of the website because the website in general seems very artistic. The gallery is a good size showing a squared format of the pictures which are large when you click on the arrows.
What is different about this website: The navigation bar is at the bottom of the webpage. The opening if the website which has advertising features and when you have to click to get to the main homepage.

This is a website for British boy band Lawson. They are not a Soul/RnB or jazz artists but I chose this website because I thought that the colour scheme was effective as well as the merchandise page which is merged with the contact navigation button were fans can write and find out news feed about them.

Looking at these websites and their convention you can see that there are many features that make them different and similar from the opening to where the navigation bar is put.
